LOCALS ONLY IN VEGAS:best driving directions FROM vegas TO oroville, ca

we are flying from florida to vegas.

we are then renting a car in vegas for 2 weeks.

during the 2 weeks, we are planning on visiting oroville california.

cant decide if driving or flying from vegas to oroville.

if we drive, which way would be better?

going straight up north from vegas, thru reno and then over to oroville?

OR by google, going through southern calif. then straight up thru the state of calif, thru sacramento, cali, then to oroville?

1. which way less mountains?

2. which way less traffic?

3. which way "safer" for 2 adults and 2 babies?

4. for non-mountain drivers, would we have a hard time going thru mtns?|||my son lives in oroville and i love in az, now the best way for you is to use google and go up southern cal. not much in the way of mountains and it will take you 10 hours plus stops. not a bad drive but when you get to tracy you hit traffic for about 3 hours. best places to get gas are at barstow and then lost hills. it is cheaper than flying. now for me i drive from vegas to reno than reno to orohell as my son says. but than from reno you have lots of mountains. not much to see on that drive and no cheap gas. if you get to oroville my son works at raleys store his name is chris, tell him hi from his dad , i hope this helps and have fun. i will be taking that drive in late september. vegas to bakerfield, to interstate 5 , 5 to sac, than 99 to yuba city to 70 to oroville that is the best way unlees you like the mountains.
